Rockstar North Game - Gta Vice City Stories (Still Unknown to Many Gamers)

Back in late 2005, just before the release of Liberty City Stories on the PSP, rumors spun onto the web about Rockstar revealing the next GTA in the franchise called Vice City Stories. Of course it was proven fake shortly after. But then a week after the release of Liberty City Stories, Rockstar Games announced that they'll be bringing yet another Grand Theft Auto title to the PSP in 2006. Fans of the GTA series and PSP owners alike, who had just started playing LCS, were excited to hear this.

Then on March 21, 2006 the publisher of the Grand Theft Auto series, Take-Two Interactive, filed three trademarks for the term "Vice City Stories". The first one was for a video game itself and the second for clothing, namely t-shirts headgear and similar stuff like that. The third trademark was quite interesting. It suggested that "Vice City Stories" could be the name of a possible TV series or Motion Picture Film. It described it as being a "live-action and/or animated television program series and production of live-action, and/or animated motion picture films for television". Of course with Liberty City Stories, based on GTA III, already out on the PSP, it wouldn't have been a surprise if Rockstar moved on to the next city in the series: Vice City.

Then at E3 2006 Rockstar announced the next-generation of Grand Theft Auto, GTA: IV, for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, to be released in October of 2007. Then less than 24 hours later they announced that the next GTA for Sony's PlayStation Portable would in fact be called GTA: Vice City Stories and will be released in North America on October 17th, 2006 and Europe on October 20th, 2006.

While Vice City Stories takes plays in the same city as the 2002 hit title GTA: Vice City, it is a new game in the legendary GTA series that will bring a unique experience to portable gaming. The game will have an all-new storyline and missions with professional voice talent and a new soundtrack.

"The success of Liberty City Stories on the PSP system was nothing short of spectacular," said Sam Houser, Founder of Rockstar Games and Executive Producer. "The incredible PSP system technology allowed us to do things we never thought possible on a handheld system and we are excited to once again give our audience a fresh experience in one of their favorite locales in the Grand Theft Auto series, Vice City. With Grand Theft Auto: Vice City Stories we look to once again smash expectations of portable gaming, bringing an all new story and exciting new gameplay elements to this classic setting."

"Our collaboration with Rockstar Leeds has been a tremendous experience," said Leslie Benzies, President of Rockstar North. "Together we have been able to create uncompromising experiences on the PSP system that not only stay true to our initial vision for the series but that surpasses our own goals of what could be done on a handheld. Grand Theft Auto: Vice City Stories will thrill longtime fans and excite new PSP system gamers like never before."

"We are proud of what we were able to achieve with Rockstar North on Grand Theft Auto: Liberty City Stories," said Gordon Hall, President of Rockstar Leeds. "By staying true to the high standards of the series and surpassing fans' expectations for a Grand Theft Auto title on a portable machine we feel confident that Grand Theft Auto: Vice City Stories will redefine what handheld gaming is capable of with the most intense PSP system experience yet."
